I chanced upon some cool stuff, and I thought I’d share it with you all.
If you’re sitting there staring at your textbook till the words are all starting to move and swirl to form a whirlpool, or if you are zombie-ing at your computer screen while your fingers acquire a life of their own typing out your essay assignment without going through your brain’s processing power (since there’s none left), then do yourself a favour. Take a break (read: procrastinate), check these stuff out, and just chill for a while (read: waste more time).
**If you like short films, here’s a few…
The Ocularist - a short film that I was impressed with. It’s about an ocularist — a guy who makes fake eyes for people who lost their eye permanently — and how he considers his work the intricate mix of the opposite world of art and science. I guess you could call it a documentary but it has a very theatrical feel to it. There’s some cool editing effects which I have tried to do last year but failed, so it’s really cool watching it.
17 Seconds to Sophie - a cool concept of a video. This video tells of a woman’s pregnancy in under one minute, through time-laspe scenes that ends with her and a wonderful baby in her arms. It’s cool coz the filmmaker (the husband) took 2 frames of his wife at the same spot with the same lights and camera everyday for the entire pregnancy. And then edited it together to make this film. Pretty cool, I’d say.
**And here’s some cool animation/website stuff:
Nike Shox Neo - a Nike flash site with cool animations backed by equally cool music.
Lowmorale - A Radiohead music video (”Creep” - acoustic version) with animated characters from Lowmorale. I like the concept of the animation. Simple and nice.
**Oh wait, an animated short film…
HappyProduct - a clay animated short film called More, directed by Mark Osborne. I like the story. But it’s pretty sad. About this guy who’s stuck in a meaningless and soul-sucking job, and he seeks refuge in the blissful memory of his childhood. He changes the world when he invented a Bliss lens, but inevitably, he also changed and turns out he cannot capture that bliss he wanted. or something. Love the concept of the lens at the start and end of the video.
Consider this my community service effort to temporarily cure society of boredom and brain-stupor with this little compilation. No need to thank me. You’re most welcomed. heehee..
gosh, I’m so full of crap these days.
Anyways, knock yourselves out. I’m gonna go fold my clothes.
