Mid-Autumn festival has just ended yesterday. And here I am now, finally willing to cut up that piggy mooncake to eat at last.

My darling got it for me (I’m a little piggy too) from one of the chinese restaurants in 1Utama. And that was one week ago. It’s been sitting on my table looking so adorable I couldn’t bring myself to eat it.

I mean, just look at it! So0o cute and chubby!

piggy!

But I figured it’ll soon get spots on its face when the mold starts growing. So I better eat it before it becomes ugly.

Happy belated Mid-Autumn Festival! oink oink!

p/s: there’s always been all these ‘zhue zai peng’ (piggy biscuit in cantonese) selling in the market every mid-autumn, but they never sold the pig-shaped ones. Always the fish-shaped ones only, in a cheap plastic basket. I always wondered why the heck are they called ‘zhue zai’ when it’s clearly a fish. Now finally everyone is selling the pig-shaped ones. smiley

I’ve just become what I would call a skylight chaser. I now chase after and pursue pretty lights (and clouds) in the skies.

I was having dinner, sitting by the window at the dining hall, when my roomie and I saw the most beautiful sunset (ok, I know I say that about every sunset. But it was beautiful). I wanted a photo of it. But I didn’t have my camera with me!! Ack!

I ate the rest of my dinner and rushed back to my room, my eyes on the skylight all the time. “eeecks! s0o0o pretty! gotta get my camera!” was the only thought my brain was capable of then. Got my camera out and trudge 10 minutes out to an open area to capture a few shots.

Alas, that pretty tuff of cloud had disappeared.
Urgh.
It was blazing reddish-pink, but it’s gone now.
Ish.

But the sky was still pretty. Did what little I could with my point-n-shoot camera.
Urgh no manual options, no tripod, limited zoom.

Oh well, here they are…

target skylights hunted down? Nope.
quality pictures? Nope.
Pretty skies? Well, yeah, check!
frozen fingers? erm, check.
brrrr….

One of the little things about Ithaca that I like is their skies. I hate the weather, but the skies are always so lovely, especially the sunsets. If you watch it the whole day, you’ll see the different hues of blue, blending from one to another, and occationally there’s a dash of pink, orange or purple across it. Pretty! smiley

8.20pm, and I was walking back from my shift with ICTV’s Frequency (an alternative music video show that I’m working on in college) and I saw that the sky was beautiful with the last rays of light. Good thing I had my camera with me today, but the unfortunate thing is that I had nothing to stabilize the camera against — which is a real bad thing ’cause the exposure time for my night scene option is really long — and as such the photo looked kinda crappy.

But I don’t care, I’m gonna put in here anyway, ’cause I love the colours!! (and ’cause this is my blog, I’ll have crappy pictures here if I want to.)

Can’t get enough of the skies here. All the different blues! wheeee…

The weather’s been really great these days. The sun is out, the snow is gone, the temperature is going up to the 50s. And I see green peeking out of everywhere, and the animals have all woken up (including the pesky insects).

The lake by the chapel has thawed too. So I stopped by today after lunch to hang around a bit, and I took a few photos!

and clear blue skies…

Lovely! When it gets warmer, I’ll go sit by the lake and read or something.

Except I couldn’t quite cuddle them. Could only to watch them from afar..

Came back from class this afternoon and guess what I saw in the woods right behind my terrace building? DEER!! many of them! (ok, i counted and it’s actually just five. But still, haven’t seen so many of them at one time.) *excited*.

So, I quickly ran upstairs to my room and came back down with my camera, and there were still there, feasting on grass (or whatever that’s there). smiley

Look!

3 deers
2 of them on the lookout for intruders like me. heheh..

where\'s the grass?
“Where’s the grass??!”

huh?
I like this one. Got this dumb look on its face that says “HUH?” Cute.

updated@3.04pm:
Just realized I had other photos of other cute cuddly animals that I took on my spring break.
Here’s some more…

Saw a squirrel nibbling on something while I was strolling in Central Park. (or braving the chilly winds, more like).

And at a pond next to the World War II Memorial in Washington DC, this duck put up a show for a nice photo moment.. smiley

o0o-kay. Now my blog is beginning to resemble some nature-lover’s blog. haha..

heya people!! I’m back now after a week of fun and ignoring school work! wheee!!

Just thought I’d put some of the photos I took up here so you all can have a look.

Was in New York City for 5 days with my room-mate, then went to Washington DC the following day before taking the 11-hour bus ride back to Ithaca. (ack. yes, 11 hours.)

Realized that I really miss being in the city, where it is always alive and bustling with activity, lights everywhere, and food + shopping everywhere too! haha..

You know those corny tourist tee-shirts that say “I love New York”? haha.. No, I did not bother buying those, but I really do love that city. smiley

Ok. I’ll stop yakking here and start showing you all some of the photos I took. All photos were taken with my Minolta Dimage G400 . Not very sophisticated, hence crappy night photos. Probably something to do with a certain lousy user as well. smiley

Here’s a photo with bits of snow flurries carried by the wind, flying across the camera.
snow flurry

Found this photo in my camera just now. Must have taken it about two weeks ago, when weather was a real bitch. (read Not Applicable & Not Applicable Part II for my accounts of it).

There’s a conspiracy, whereby no matter which direction you walk in, the wind will ALWAYS be blowing full force in your face. It’s almost like someone up there is having fun with a wind-blower thingy and aiming it at your face all the time. And laugh everytime some bits of snow accidentally enters your mouth or hits your eye.

There are these huge snow mounds all around the campus. It snows almost everyday so they have to shovel the snow. And guess what happens to the snow that gets shovelled to make way for roads? Yup, piled up sooo high, in little mountains, all over the campus.

A friend commented that the snow mound by the carpark is so huge it’s a waste of at least 2 carpark spaces. And the size continues to grow as it snows. And if it collapses, I pity the car parked next to the mound(mount) of snow.

Another day, I saw four students, armed with cute mini plastic shovel, make an igloo-like thing out of one of the mounds. Well, it looks kinda like a mini and snow version of a small cave (think Afghan caves that Osama is supposedly hiding in), all white and nice. More interestingly, they tried to fit themselves in the mini igloo, and took photos.

Unfortunately, I have forgotten to bring my camera along on both occasions. And thanks to the recent warmer weather (warmer means anything above 0 Fahrenheit, but below 0 Celsius), more snow have melted. And for once, the scenery around campus actually includes the colour green! Some grass was peeking through the melted snow!

But trust me, the snow will be back.
Be forewarned of more postings to bitch about the weather.
*evil cackle*

Yup, as promised, here are some photos that I took several days ago.

Not really looking all that great ’cause I suspect the contrast was not high enough since everything was white and various shades of grey. Grey is just such a mood-killer. Or maybe I just don’t quite know how to best function my camera. =p

Here’s one of Muller Chapel, and the lake next to it on the Ithaca College campus.

And this one, is just some snow-coated leaves. Found them so cute, so I snapped a picture of them.

And here’s another one. A little more snow.

All these were taken several days ago, when it still wasn’t snowing so heavily yet. Today was crazy. Just half an hour ago when I returned from my dinner/supper, it was 9 degrees F, which is negative-I-dunno-how-much celcius. Weather reports are no use now. Everything is just C.O.L.D. to me.
