I enjoyed my lunch today. Had a great time chatting with my wonderful galpals Sangy and Pamy, and her husband boyfriend Tim smiley , over some bak kut teh in Paramount. Just a little get-together before Sangy flies off to UK next Friday.

It’s been awhile since we did that, but it’s fun as always. Guess our separate education routes after A Levels(and soon, career paths) made our get-togethers few and far in between. But everytime we do get to hang out, it’s almost as if we’re still roommates back in Eton Hall, almost as if we’ve yakked and chatted just yesterday.

It’s a nice feeling I guess. I admit I’m not great with keeping friendships and all. And sometimes some of the friendships forged back in the old times of uniformed-schooling days don’t seem to advance further. Everytime we do meet, we just end up reminiscing about the past but don’t have much in the present to connect us together anymore. Well, maybe it’s me being a lousy “keep-in-touch”-er, but that’s truly how I feel sometimes.

But of course, there are those people, a smaller group of them, whom you know are truly good friends that you can totally connect with regardless of the time passed and geography shifts. We might not get to hang out often like last time ‘coz we all have our own lives to live now, but we know we’re always just a phone call away (or msn/skype/etc), and these are the friends who won’t judge you but will always be there for you. It’s hard to find these kinda friendships, but I guess I can count myself lucky to have found some along the way all these years, from secondary school till now.

And of course, some friendships can ‘evolve’ into something more. Just like how a “omg u have the same full name as my godsister” message on icq can spark off a friendship that grew into a supportive, loving relationship between me and my darling. smiley

All these little friendships that give meaning to our lives.
The little joys of the human connection. smiley
